Nucleon resonances beyond the [Delta](1232) have been observed in complex nuclei. Measurements of the ([ital e],[ital e][sup [prime]][ital p][pi][sup [minus]]) reaction, at an incident energy of 14.5 GeV with 1.1 GeV [lt][ital W][lt]2.0 GeV and [l angle][ital Q][sup 2][r angle][approx]0.35 GeV[sup 2]/[ital c][sup 2], are presented for [sup 2]H, CO, Ar, and Xe targets. These exclusive data show no shift in the [Delta](1232) mass and give evidence for excitations in the region of the [ital D][sub 13](1520) and [ital F][sub 15](1680) resonances. The pion angular distribution in the [Delta] region is suppressed at forward angles relative to distorted-wave impulse approximation predictions.
