Hybrid preamplifier for solid state detectors on high energy experiments
This chapter reports on the study, development and production of hybrid preamplifiers for low noise data acquisition from solid state detectors. LABEN is devoted to the research, development and production of analog and digital instrumentation for nuclear, space and industrial applications. The hybrid preamplifiers are expected to reduce the size and cost in experiments requiring a high number of chains. LABEN has already produced a complete hybrid processor for data acquisition from radiation detectors in satellite experiments. Four types of preamplifiers are being developed: 1) a general purpose unit for Silicon detectors which can suit any type of application from telescope to microstrip detectors; 2) a low cost unit for microstrip Silicon detectors; 3) a special purpose preamplifier for very high counting rate applications with telescopes; and 4) a very low noise circuit for high energy applications of Germanium detectors.
