Title: Exclusive semileptonic B decays to charm

Abstract

Using the ARGUS detector at the {ital e}{sup +}{ital e}{sup {minus}} storage ring DORIS II at DESY we have investigated the exclusive {ital B}{sup {r arrow}}D*{sup {minus}}{ital l}{sup +}{nu} and {ital B}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital D}{sup {minus}}{ital l}{sup +}{ital v} and have determined the CKM matrix element {vert bar}{ital V}{sub {ital c}{ital b}}{vert bar}. By measuring the yields of {ital {bar D}}{sup 0}, {ital D}{sup 0}, {ital D}{sup {minus}} and {ital D}*{sup {minus}} mesons originating from semileptonic {ital {bar B}} decays, the lifetime ratio of charged and neutral {ital B} mesons, {tau}({ital B}{sup +})/{tau}({ital B}{sup 0}), is derived.
