Centers of Supercomputing
- Minnesota Univ., Minneapolis, MN (United States)
This paper reports on Centers of Supercomputing. The University of Minnesota is the prime contractor with the Army Research Office for the Army High Performance Computing Research Center (AHPCRC). The AHPCRC subcontracts the operation and maintenance of its supercomputer facilities to the Minnesota Supercomputer Center (MSC). Professional personnel under subcontract to MSC reside at nine army sites: the three Army supercomputer centers at the Ballistics Research Laboratory (BRO), the Tank Automotive Command (TACOM), and the Waterways Experimental Station (WES), and six other laboratories conducting research in areas requiring high-performance computing. The prime contract between the Army Research Office and the University of Minnesota is divided into three major sections: basic research, advanced systems acquisition, and technology transfer and infrastructure support.
