This patent describes a ceramic composite comprising a mixture of boron nitride and fused zirconia mullite. The fused zirconia mullite comprising from 25 to 45 weight percent zirconia and from 55 to 75 weight percent mullite based on the weight of the fused zirconia mullite, and the ceramic composite comprising from 26 to 90 weight percent boron nitride and from 10 to 74 weight percent fused zirconia mullite based on the weight of the ceramic composite.
