Research to develop design guidelines for pre-mixed multi-port (MEKER) bruners. Phase 1 report, June 1991-May 1992
A test fixture was designed and fabricated to test emission and performance levels of a series of Meker burner configurations. The data obtained was used to generate correlations of NOx and CO emissions as a function of combustion intensity and excess air. These functions show that the emission correlations were well defined and were independent of flameholder material geometry. Windows of operation were also developed that displayed regions where a burner designer could choose combustion loadings and excess air values that allowed good flameholding, low flameholder surface temperature and acceptable noise level quality.**INVALID KEYWORDS: research and development, guidelines, design criteria, performance evaluation, experimental design, state of the art, air pollution sampling, meker burners
