This paper reports on the national photovoltaic project which has been established to utilize photovoltaic technology for the generation of economically competitive electric power in Korea. The long-term R and D plan with organizational structure, technical goals and cost target is to be conducted in three stages from 1989 to 2001. As the fruit of this project, it is expected that commercialization of the photovoltaic system and enlargement of domestic markets will be materialized in the near future.
