One of the factors influencing the efficiency in the production of electric and thermal power is the replacement of worn out and absolute power generating equipment. Removing absolute power equipment from service and replacing it with new, more modern equipment is one of the primary methods for increasing the performance of thermal power plants, increasing fuel economy, and reducing the number of operating personnel required at the power plants. Criteria are discussed for deciding when to replace current equipment with more efficient power plant equipment.
