Green on the Grand: Final monitoring report
Green on the Grand is an office building in Kitchener, Ontario, the first C2000 project in Canada. The building design addresses the four key requirements of a C2000 building: Energy efficiency, minimal environmental impact, occupant health and comfort, and functional performance. Features of the building include engineered wood construction, high-performance windows, radiant hydronic heating, ventilation air heat recovery, and high levels of insulation. This report documents the building construction process and the monitored performance of the building for 1997. Computer simulations were used to assess the energy efficiency of the building design. Information is provided on the monitoring system and on the performance of the building envelope, heating/cooling system, ventilation system, lighting and daylighting system, and other electrical loads, and on occupant perceptions and water consumption. Appendices include tables showing monthly utility consumption and performance of systems monitored.
