Development of perturbations at a detonation front
In shock waves generated by explosion products the inhomogeneity of the explosive-charge parameters lead to perturbations of the detonation wave (DW) front and the EP parameters behind the front. This work studies the laws of development of perturbations at the DW front by a method of high-speed photography used to record the form of the DW front as a function of the path x passed by the DW and the distance between the initation points. The experimental results are shown in a figure. Analysis of the experimental data leads to the conclusions that the perturbations at the DW wavefront propagates according to the Huygens principle, and in collisions of diverging DW with angles of incidence in specified ranges no Mach wave is observed.
