This bibliography contains citations of selected patents concerning materials compositions used in high-heat, high-wear engineering applications. Polymer-based materials, modified by the addition of steel fibers, woven carbon fabric, mill scale, organic fillers of animal origin, iron powders, and metal flame coatings are among those described. Methods used in securing external adhesion of the friction materials to brake surfaces, and internal cohesion of various constituents are discussed.
