Failure of Incoloy 800H superheater tubes in Mountain Fuel Resources gasifier

Details are given of the early failure of superheater tubes on Mountain Fuel Resources' entrained-flow gasification PDU. Examination showed the failure to have occurred from the outside by intergranular stress corrosion cracking. Steps that can be taken to prevent this re-occurring are considered.
