20-MW plant produces power and processes malted barley

The Great Western malting facility, powered by a General Electric LM2500 gas turbine and heat recovery boiler is described. The plant is fully automated and averages 23.7 hours/day operation to generate electric power for sale to a local utility and process heat to dry and roast malted barley. Stringent NO/sub x/ emission limits are met by a water injection system that is integrated with the fuel system and regulated by the same control. The plant produces 20 MW of electric power. The operation and performance of the plant are discussed.
