Experimental results are presented to compare the active and reactive power responses of induction motor loads, that are subjected to a sudden change in voltage magnitude, with responses that are obtained from third and fifth order aggregate induction motor models. The need to use a fifth order model to adequately represent the power transients is demonstrated. A system simulation of a network of larger induction motors is used to confirm the need for a fifth order model as motor size increases.
