Determining the preferred system for protecting medium-power transformers requires a knowledge not only of the fault duties but also of the possibility of occurrence of overvoltages. A program developed by one supplier is designed to study a system and predict the level of overvoltage and the associated over-excitation that will occur at the transformer.
