Title: Engineer, educator, power industry: what makes it work. [Conference paper]

Conference · · Proc. Am. Power Conf.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6546864

Continued interaction between educators and the power industry is important because, although basic principles and theories don't change, their applications do. Internships for a university/industry contact keep educators apprised of new applications and engineers current with new research. The arrangement means better training for engineering students and increases the liklihood that industrial problems will be solved. Universities differ in how they view industrial consulting, but the practice is valuable because it promotes attitudes of balancing engineering theory with applications. (DCK)
