The history of the residential energy conservation code, subsequent training and trainee testing are described. Both code opportunities and code conflicts involving solar use are discussed. A simple equation for the use of solar in complying with the code is discussed. Possibly, ASHRAE 90-75 based codes (which may become equivalent to BEPS) could be modified to use such a simple approach.
