Journal Article · · Public Power; (United States)
OSTI ID:6487437

The future prospects of coal-slurry transportation (pulverized coal pumped with water or some other liquid through pipes) is discussed. Proposed legislation that would open access by allowing slurry lines rights-of-way through the power of eminent domain is reviewed, along with the opposition of the railroad industry, and the strain slurry pipelines might place upon the water resources of several western states. The advantages of coal slurry pipelines are also discussed, and a map is presented which shows the existing and planned coal slurry pipelines. (JMT)
