Title: United States Air Force in Europe: An analysis within the post-cold war security environment. Master's thesis

Abstract

A United States Air Force presence in Europe promotes stability in the region and displays an ongoing US commitment towards a peaceful and prosperous Europe. These forces also enable the US to have an important voice in European security matters that directly affect the United States. In addition, a United States Air Force presence in Europe provides flexible and mobile combat forces which are essential in sustaining American and allied security interests within the new international order. While the US Air Force in Europe is being reduced in size, it is adjusting and reorganizing to more effectively and efficiently perform its still critical roles within the region. According to current plans, there will be approximately three forward deployed active duty fighter wings stationed in Europe. US nuclear guarantees for Europe will be supported by US Air Force multi-role fighter/attack aircraft. To maintain effective strategic agility capabilities within the region, it will be essential that the United States continue to stay actively involved within the European political and military environment....US Air Force, US Air Force in Europe, US Military Strategy, US Air Force Strategy, US Air Force Nuclear, Nuclear, Strategic Culture, Strategic Agility, US Air Force Reorganization, Arms Control.
