First round feasibility study awardees surveyed. [US DOE; Coal related studies]
In the brighter days of federal synthetic fuels support, Department of Energy awarded grants for the funding of 99 feasibility studies and 11 cooperative agreements (COAL R and D, July 15, 1980). Twenty-two of those projects involved the use of coal. COAL R and D has surveyed recipients of the coal-related awards to find out how feasible their projects turned out to be. Out of the 22 projects, 7 are dead or not being actively considered. The remaining are in various stages of development. Some have yet to complete their studies, while one has begun construction. Many have applied or are planning to apply, to the Synthetic Fuels Corp. for further assistance. The feasibility study and cooperative agreement grantees are listed in project state order, along with details of their findings.
