Title: Surfactant-enhanced, relaxed-fluid-loss cement improves results on deep gas wells

Journal Article · · JPT, Journal of Petroleum Technology
OSTI ID:634615

The deep Anadarko basin of western Oklahoma and part of the Texas panhandle contains deep, tight, gas wells. These wells have average depths of 12,000 to 18,000 ft. Many wells produce more than 15 MMcf/D of gas. The surfactant-enhanced, relaxed-fluid-loss cement systems can be used successfully to cement production-casing strings on deep gas wells in parts of the Anadarko basin and Texas panhandle. More than 200 strings have been successfully cemented in the study area without any major job problems. The systems may not work in all applications. One formation in the study area is unsuitable for these cement systems. The authors recommend that cement-slurry fluid-loss control be relaxed gradually over several wells and that each cement job be analyzed carefully before continuing with a more relaxed system on the next well.
