The Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) Facility in Loveland, Colorado is an office and manufacturing complex of approximately 1.1 million sq. ft. It consists of six major and several minor buildings. Energy management is a multi-faceted effort with emphasis on: (1) electrical and natural gas rate structures, (2) lighting improvements, (3) lighting control, (4) demand side management, specifically chilled water plant optimization, (5) utility system monitoring and control, (6) tax incentives, (7) internal billing--energy surcharges, (8) control system optimization, and (9) auditing. Anticipated energy cost savings have been forecast for each area mentioned. The paper discusses utility management, energy auditing, natural gas pricing, and energy and utility monitoring.
