In search of US energy policy
Free-market oriented US energy policy has enjoyed much confirmation during recent years. This may be due to its flexibility, international harmony, and not a little due to lower petroleum prices since 1986. But even laissez-faire economists agree that there are deep conflicts within US energy arenas, and that sooner or later, a more-comprehensive preparedness for change will be important. This issues features perspectives from just one exceptional forum - the Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies, Energy Agenda for the New Administration. This issue also contains the following: (1) refining netback data series for the US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore, as of Dec. 2, 1988; and (2) ED fuel price/tax series for countries of the Eastern Hemisphere, November 1988 edition. 2 figures, 4 tables.
