Fluoropolymers as chemical process vessel linings
Abstract
Fluoropolymers' extremely stable structure results in outstanding corrosion resistance and thermal stability. They therefore work well in use as process equipment linings. There presently are six fluoropolymers being used in equipment linings. Three of these materials are fully fluorinated fluoropolymers and three are partially fluorinated. The performance in service nd the method of installation are different for each of these six materials. This article details some of the performance characteristics and application procedures of these fluoropolymers when used as linings in chemical service.
