Large deflection analysis and application of flexible hoses in solar collectors

The flex hoses used in parabolic trough solar collectors were analyzed The motion of flex hose and the resulting forces were studied for various geometrical configurations. A large deflection formulation was used in the analysis. The results are presented in a nondimensional form so that they can be of use to parabolic trough solar collector flex hose designers and analysts. Design curves which could be used in an optimal selection of geometrical layout of flex hoses were developed.
