Title: High speed horizontal pump is efficient at low flows and easy to maintain

Journal Article · · Chem. Process. (Chicago); (United States)
OSTI ID:6134777

This article focuses on high speed end suction horizontal centrifugal pump was awarded Honors in the process pump category of the 1982 Chemical Processing Vaaler competition because the advanced hydraulic design provides an extraordinarily stable head capacity curve from minimum flow to runout which makes systems simpler, more economical and easier to control. This stability, which lowers the hydraulic minimum flow to 15-20% of the best efficiency point, is achieved through a combination of advanced impeller designs and the company's patent pending back flow catcher that eliminates inducer surging. The pump has a capacity of 400 gpm with heads to 4500' to meet virtually any high head, low flow demand of the petroleum refining, petrochemical and chemical industries.
