The papers contained in this volume focus on various artificial intelligence applications, with attention given to integrating rule-base systems, enabling technologies, knowledge acquisition and learning, and intelligent interfaces and natural language processing. Other topics discussed include planning, scheduling, and constraint satisfaction; case-based reasoning, genetic algorithms, and fuzzy logic; design; and distributed problem solving and real-time systems. Papers are presented on representation and control of knowledge bases for support of multiple tasks, a multilevel diagnosis methodology for complex systems, intelligent assistance for the communication of information in large organizations, and qualitative/fuzzy approach to document recognition.
