Reservoir performance monitoring techniques used in Forties Field
This work describes the techniques used to monitor reservoir performance in the Forties Field. Based on the data gathered to date, a detailed numeric model of the reservoir has been compiled which is used to predict future reservoir performance. Both conventional open hole logs and the repeat formation tester are run in all wells to define reservoir conditions at the time of completion. Extensive use of both thermal decay time and production surveys is made to describe fluid movement through the reservoir. The results have been used in planning effective workover operations. Regular analyses of produced water are taking place to monitor injection water break through and potential barium sulfate scaling problems. Radioactive tracers were introduced into injection wells to enable more accurate monitoring of the movement of injected water.
