This survey covered over 8000 households for fuel purchases for their vehicles over a 28-month period. Each household diary covers at least one month of data. The survey was designed to: provide monthly estimates related to residential vehicle and fuel use including gallons consumed, miles driven, number of vehicles in use; provide quick feedback to the government on the extent and severity of fuel shortages; and to create a data set for analysis of fuel consumption at the household level monthly and annually.
