Kinetics and mechanism of californium extraction by DI-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid solutions

The authors study the kinetics of californium extraction by D2EHPA from aqueous solutions containing citric acid and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA). It has been shown that surface reaction between Cf/sup 3 +/ and monomeric forms of D2EHPA is the limiting stage of the process. The extremal nature of the dependence of the reaction rate on the extractant concentration has been explained.
