Heavy oil catalytic cracking process and apparatus
This paper describes a fluidized catalytic cracking process for catalytic cracking of a feed comprising hydrocarbons having a boiling point about 750 F. It comprises: a catalytically cracking the feed in a catalytic cracking zone riser reactor having a height in excess of 30 meters at catalytic cracking conditions by contacting the feed with a source of hot regenerated cracking catalyst to produce a riser effluent mixture having an effluent temperature about 1000 F and comprising cracked products and spent cracking catalyst containing coke and strippable hydrocarbons; separating within a vessel the cracking zone effluent mixture into a cracked product vapor phase including hydrocarbons having a boiling point above about 650 F and having a temperature above 1000 F and a spent catalyst rich phase; stripping and regenerating the spent catalyst to produce regenerated catalyst which is recycled to crack heavy feed.
