Title: Effect of the granulometric composition of lump coals on temperature distribution in a charge layer and at the bottom of a rotary furnace

Journal Article · · Coke Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5594297

The granulometric composition of a coal charge has considerable effect on the distribution of temperatures in a layer, and, consequently, on the degree of carbonization of the coke: the heating rate of a layer is decreased with an increase in the percentage of small classes; at the same time, the temperature-drop relative to height increases. The results obtained make it possible to adjust the coking period in a rotary furnace, taking into account the granulometric composition of the coal being coked.
