A review and comparison of some commonly used methods of estimating petroleum resource availability

The purpose of this pedagogical report is to elucidate the characteristics of the principal methods of estimating the petroleum resource base. Other purposes are to indicate the logical similarities and data requirements of these different methods. The report should serve as a guide for the application and interpretation of the different methods.
