Information is provided on the regulatory issues which are affecting the phaseout of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). A strategy for developing a CFC replacement plan is presented. The process involves inventory of existing refrigeration equipment, development of load profiles, and investigating refrigerant replacement options. The outcome of the CFC replacement evaluation is a phased implementation plan which allows a facility to replace or convert individual chillers over a multi-year period.
