This report summarizes findings of a fire protection review conducted February 19, 1986 at the Western Area Power Administration's Miles City Converter Station. This facility would not be considered a Highly Protected Risk. Major physical deficiencies include lack of automatic sprinkler protection, an inadequate water supply, and an inadequate fire wall around the Valve Hall. Major human element deficiencies include delayed response to site alarms and the lack of monthly inspection programs. The loss potential is $23,000,000. This is made up of $15,000,000 property damage and $8,000,000 loss of income for an expected 18 month outrage.
