Spectroscopy and structure of molecules and nuclei
Abstract
Three-fourths of the talks at the symposium dealt with nuclear topics, while the remainder focused on atomic-molecular phenomena. The underlining themes in the program were: (1) the properties associated with various exotic shapes of the nucleus; (2) emission of clusters of nucleons in radioactive decay; (3) new information gained by probing the nucleus with light ions of low to medium energies; (4) giant resonance phenomena; (5) advances in structural knowledge of the metal carbonyls; and (6) the photophysics and photochemistry of retinal proteins and their function in vision and photosynthesis. Separate abstracts were prepared for 23 papers in this conference.
