Title: Performance of treatment technologies for refinery hazardous wastes

Abstract

Listed petroleum refinery wastes were treated by several technologies and the performance data collected. Specific treatment processes to be compared include Solvent Extraction, Mechanical Treatment, Thermal Treatment, and Chemical Fixation. In most cases, the treatment resulted in a separation of the raw waste into oil, water, and solid phases. Results of testing products and waste feed for oil and grease content, volatile hydrocarbons, semi-volatiles, selected PNA's and selected metals such as lead and chromium have been evaluated to determine the extent that processing can reduce constituent levels. TCLP analyses of the feed and separated products (solids, cakes) will be compared as an indication of the change in the leachability of treatment residuals.
