This article addresses refinements in computer models and satellite images that allowed for the reduction of costs for upgrading the dams and spillways on the Au Sable River. The upgrades were for increasing the capacity of the dams and spillways to accommodate a probable maximum flood. The topics of the article include a description of the basic watershed model, refining the calculations, verifying the results, and costs savings realized.
