Title: High frac sand concentrations boost production in Texas' Olmos formation

Abstract

Royal Oil and Gas Corp. and Halliburton Services have successfully combined proppant concentrations up to 20 ppg and total proppant loads approaching 2 million lb to achieve dramatic production increases in the Olmos formation in McMullen County, Tex. Both water-based gels and gelled oils have been used as carriers for these high concentrations, with water recently becoming more popular for reasons of economy.
