Singer HVAC users hit equipment, service

Users report in a survey of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems that they found that Singer's packaged Climate Control rooftop systems are unreliable and the company's service is poor. Respondents ranked Singer 9th in a field of 10 in the survey. Company spokesmen deny the charges, although they acknowledge some distribution problems, and are still marketing the equipment that was criticized. Climate Control users report an inordinate number of maintenance problems and equipment failures, which they blame on poor basic construction and poor-quality parts. (DCK)
