Aerodynamic focusing of particles and heavy molecules: First annual report

Our first goal was to investigate the phenomenon of aerodynamic focusing in supersonic free jets, in order to assess its potential technological uses in /open quotes/direct writing/close quotes/ and other energy-related applications. Our research program divides itself naturally into two chapters: on focusing microscopic particles, and on focusing individual molecules of heavy vapors carried in jets of He and H/sub 2/. In both lines we combine diverse experimental and theoretical methods of attack. 3 refs., 4 figs.
