Intelligent mine technology
The Intelligent Mine Technology Program has been initiated to increase the productivity of the Finnish mining industry. The Program includes 28 research and development projects with a total budget of approximately US $12 million which are to be realized during 1992--1996. The projects will be implemented by Finnish mining machine manufacturers and mining companies in cooperation with specialists of applicable technology. Thy cover the development of effective real-time data acquisition systems, a high speed mine-wide information systems network, computerized mine management systems and automation of mining equipment and methods. The research and development work will form the foundation for further automation of mining equipment and methods. The research and development work will form the foundation for further development focused on the concept of a fully automated, real-time controlled and managed Intelligent Mine, with autonomous development focused on the concept of a fully automated, real-time controlled and managed Intelligent Mine, with autonomous machinery and process-like production.
