Technology of energy savings for industrial furnaces

Industrial furnaces are widely used in key industries such as iron and steel, automobiles, electrical equipment and chemistry, and various other industries. In view of the present situation that 20 percent of the total energy consumed in Japan is spent as a heat source for industrial furnaces, the energy savings from industrial furnaces are of great significance. This paper covers a wide range of subjects, including methods of energy savings readily applicable to existing furnaces, structural considerations for energy savings in designing new furnaces, rationalization of production processes leading to more efficient energy use, etc.
