Harmonic level control schemes and evaluation methods in power system
- National Univ. of Singapore (Singapore). Dept. of Electrical Engineering
Since the electrical engineers and system consumers began to pay attention to the harmonic effect in power grids, many measures have been taken to reduce the harmonic levels. One most common method to solve the problem is to add a filter (either active or passive) near the harmonic source to absorb the harmonic currents. By means of this, the harmonic components can be greatly suppressed before they spread over to the rest of the power system. Active and passive filters are used to reduce harmonic level in power systems. This paper presents techniques for designing these filters in the view point of improving overall power system performance. Besides, a method for harmonic control optimization for these filters is discussed and the conclusion is obtained through mathematical deduction.
