A fundamentally novel coke-oven system was designed at Giprokoks (underjet, with bottom gas and air regulation) on the basis of data from model experiments. The Kharkov Works incorporate an experimental equipment shop which studies virtually every process known to the coking industry and tests prototype equipment prior to its commercial introduction.
