The Kapuni Gas Treatment Plant was built in 1969 to process high CO{sub 2} natural gas. The original plant was designed as an ammonia absorption plant. In 1996 the decision was made to redesign and change the plant to conventional propane mechanical refrigeration system operating at {minus}29 C ({minus}20 F). The dehydration system was one of the major problems; a new system was required to meet the health, safety and environmental regulations as established by New Zealand. The IFPexol technology was selected. Operating problems and solutions are discussed.
