An extensive review of published material on electrical residential water heating was performed, and comments are presented concerning critical issues of water heating. First, the phenomenon of Legionella pneumophila bacteria is studied. Second, electrical energy consumption is reviewed. Finally, the energy savings of improved technological devices are considered. The objective of this survey is to provide an organized report on the aforementioned aspects of electrical water heating in residential homes, thus forming a basis for conducting future research.
