Title: A new energy-research on development and utilization of coal seam gas resources

The paper discusses the formation mechanism of coal seam gas, and analyzes the benefit (to safety, environment, economy and society) and the bright future for its development and utilization, based on the resource quantity and the workable reserves in the coal seam gas of China. The paper considers that while using the technology of drawing gas from bottom of a shaft, it should market the surface drawing technology in coal-producing countries of the world. However, the surface technology in China has been utilized, but coal seam gas has not been used in industry and the scale of use as a chemical feedstock is smaller than that in the developed countries. Therefore, the authors emphasize that their country should change the traditional idea, research key problems with the technologies, implement preference policies, import technologies and fund the development of a coal seam gas industry.
