Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:281111

War against disease has been a major rationale for funding support for post-war science. The author cites statistics for significant increases in life expectancy in recent decades through improved science and technology. Special problems are addressed that health scientists face in policy and planning. Four general categories are presented in some detail: education and training, intellectual development, funding, and ethical and social issues. The delima faced by health management organizations, industry, insurance companies and government agencies due to funding limitations and rapidly escalating costs is examined.
