Three cis-dioxomolybdenum (VI) complexes with dithiolene-like benzenedithiolate ligands, Q{sub 2}[Mo{sup VI}O{sub 2}(1,2-benzenedithiolato){sub 2}] (Q = NEt{sub 4} (1a), PPh{sub 4} (1b)), [Mo{sup VI}O{sub 2}(3-triphenylsilyl-1,2-benzenedithiolato){sub 2}]{sup 2-} (2), and [Mo{sup VI}O{sub 2}(4-methyl-1,2-benzenedithiolato){sub 2}]{sup 2-} (3), were synthesized as models of oxidized sulfite oxidase and compared with the structure of (PPh{sub 4}){sub 2}[Mo{sup VI}O{sub 2}(S{sub 2}C{sub 2}(CN){sub 2}){sub 2}]{center_dot}2MeOH (4).
